The start of their story could be described as puppy love — literally. Because at the time they met, she was in the throes of housebreaking puppies, and he was right there to help.

Little did they know that eventually, they’d form a family with five large dogs between them. But before then, they built a relationship that included months apart and lots of letter writing while he was in basic training.

Several more months after that, they were writing the last name they intended to share on a decorative sign, along with a wedding year. Never mind that they weren’t yet officially engaged — not until the end of that crafting class, that is, when she turned to see him holding a ring. And now, they’re planning a wedding for next spring!
