I'm also a night owl, a perfectionist and laser focused often to a fault (despite attempts to reform in all areas!). One target of this focus has forever been documenting life in detail – and when I began my business, it was with this innate desire to create images that captured clients' lives in a beautiful way. I started out doing various kinds of work but discovered while building my brand that as a trained journalist, my niche was in weddings and the rich storytelling potential they provide. Thus came the transition to Wisdom-Watson Weddings – a new name meant to designate not only this new specialty but also the multiple means my team offers for capturing it. Through photography, videography and more, we are curators so our clients can be keepers of the once-in-a-lifetime day they say "I do"!
Sure, it may come with sweat-inducing temps. Summer has all sorts of positive associations for me, though – from new starts to sweet freedom to childhood days spent swimming. And as an adult who could always use more hours in the day, I love the illusion of extra length that comes with it staying light late.

I love something about each one,

He's a laid-back 15 pounds of fluff I adopted after getting my first post-college job. We added my husband to the family several years later (although Seth likes to pretend Luke was his pet first!). Luke loves us both, but if I'm in my office, he's often as shown here – keeping me company from his corner.

My husband and I have made a decent dent in this particular travel goal (see our current parks progress here), but these travels are about much more than checking destinations off a list. They're about experiencing adventure and beauty, stretching our bodies and minds, and making memories along the way.

MY GO-TO SPOTS TO TRAVEL
If you aren't, this poster that's in my office won't mean anything to you! But suffice it to say: It represents one of the most iconic episodes of the show. Being almost the same age as Rory during the original run and having the same college major and intended career path, I strongly identified with her character.

Maybe it's because I'm a words person, but I can't help it: I love shirts that say something. The "guilty" part of this pleasure isn't so much the tees themselves as my insatiable desire for them. I don't actually have hundreds, but if my heart had its way, I'm sure I'd own at least one for every day of the year!

I mean, I don't take my laptop and iPad to the grocery store. But on longer trips and certainly at home, they're my constant companions. Being able to work from anywhere can be a double-edged sword, but even with those easily blurred work/life boundaries, I'm so grateful for these pretty pieces of technology.

Rather, I've dreamed numerous times that I've accidentally ended up having my hair colored. As nonsensical as that sounds, it makes sense that I'm attached to my natural silver following a long grow-out process — after deciding in my 30s to ditch the dye that had hidden my true colors for more than a decade.

MY recurring nightmare
As a lifelong KU fan and graduate united in holy matrimony to a man who loves Mizzou, I've had to learn that sports fandom and marriage don't always mix. Fortunately, I've also learned that love can defeat the greatest divisions (even if we're fairly obviously faking it when we feign support for the other's team!).

With degrees in English and journalism and almost a decade as a full-time staffer for a media company, I'm no stranger to polished content creation, a high-pressure environment and delivering professional work on deadline.
But just as vital in preparing me for what I do now are a set of inherent characteristics: creativity coupled with a diligent and detail-oriented nature, along with a strong sense of sentimentality and an appreciation of all things pretty. Although I may be biased, I've found this to be a perfect cocktail of qualities for putting to use as a wedding photographer!
I call my style fine-art photojournalism to designate how it fits a journalistic approach and how it differs. Like true photojournalism, it emphasizes documentary storytelling. But it also involves more artistic elements.
Among these is the art of posing couples in a way that's relaxed and natural rather than awkward. Even in moments that are orchestrated, I want real relationships to shine. Similarly, in post-production, I aim for a natural edit that leans toward light-and-airy but doesn't stray from showcasing the details of a wedding day as they actually were.
Through my signature brand of storytelling, my highest hope is to depict my clients' days as even more beautiful than they remember. Another way to say this is that I tell the truth, but always from the most aesthetic angles.
My signature is also in the intangibles of the client experience. As invested as I am in creating amazing images, I care just as much about creating enjoyment along the way. A wedding should be joyful, after all, and I keep things flowing, fun and stress-free – because I fully believe that when it's all done, what most sticks with couples is the emotion of the day.
He's also a former basketball phenom, an Army veteran and the wonderful husband I'm lucky to call mine! Since our wedding on 10.10.10, he's been my truest constant through career changes and multiple moves; my companion on cross-country adventures and ordinary evenings on the couch; my co-parent to our beloved cat and my co-worker in this business. He plays a big role behind the scenes as our self-proclaimed purchasing agent – keeping us current on the latest and greatest gear – and as my personal database builder. Also, although he doesn't work every wedding with me, he often is the one by my side for those marathon days of documenting the start of a marriage. And truly: Being as grateful as I am for our own makes capturing our clients' marriages that much more meaningful!
He's an engineer-turned-analyst who excels at almost everything – including photo + video work.
The dress bustling expertise comes from a former job in a bridal shop, but her role in my life goes back much further than that. We've been best friends since high school – and as she can attest, photography has always been a big part of that. Long before either of us ever envisioned practicing it professionally, she learned to be patient with my penchant for getting just the right shot. She also deserves credit for a lot of my favorite photos of myself – taken in places all across the country we've traveled together. And as my business grew and I needed to add someone to my team, I couldn't think of anyone second to Seth who I'd trust more with my work. After shooting alongside us for several weddings several years ago, she stepped into the role of full-fledged second-shooter and has been an invaluable asset ever since.
she not only gets great shots but also offers
dress bustling help (and is just the best human).
