They grew up a world apart but met in college at Truman State University, where she was his French tutor. Being from the country of Togo in West Africa, she spoke the language fluently. And while he may have been a bit too distracted by her to be the best student, their tutoring relationship did produce an awesome outcome — as evidenced by this wedding day!

Planning a wedding while wrapping up their college careers proved pretty challenging, and as a result, they just went with what was readily available when it came to details like bridesmaid dresses and floral decor. But you wouldn’t know from looking at the final outcome that its cohesive look had been anything other than intentional!

One thing that was very intentional was their choice of venue. The Elms served as a perfect retreat for their guests, who made the trip to Missouri from all over — including Texas, Louisiana, Illinois, New Jersey, Minnesota, England, Belgium and Togo. And with a little church sitting right across the street, this truly was the perfect place for their perfect day.
