What started as a friendship between graduate-school classmates in his native Oklahoma ultimately led to a wedding day between those friends-turned-fiancés in her native Kansas City — and what a beautiful wedding day it was!

Never mind that the forecast guaranteed (and did in fact deliver) a rainy start to the day. Because the sun came out when it counted, and even if it hadn’t, the occasion still would have been full of joy and meaningful details — from the classics to the one-of-a-kind, such as a special stuffed elephant that sat front-and-center at the reception, as well as flying pig weather vanes that reminded the bride of her late grandma’s love for pigs.

Those weather vanes were one of the selling points for their choice of reception venue, which also offered the nature setting and light-hearted atmosphere the couple wanted for celebrating their marriage with family and friends.
