They met in middle school and had the kind of awareness of each other that comes with being from small towns with rival sports teams. Athletics turned out to be a connection point that kept them on one another’s radar, with them each gaining the unique distinction of going on to play collegiate sports at Division I schools — both of them as pitchers.

It wasn’t until a couple of years ago that they actually became a couple, but once they did, it turned out to be inevitable that he’d pop the question against a beautiful Wyoming backdrop and that they’d plan a wedding at another beautiful location — this one overlooking the Missouri River in the area where their story started.
