He didn’t know when he went to his cousin’s wedding three years ago that he was about to start a love story of his own – let alone one spanning many miles and an international border.

But that is exactly what happened after that wedding in Mexico, with them officially beginning to date a year after they met. They were fortunate in that they each had flexibility in their careers to travel to see one another, and it was during a visit she made to Kansas City that he popped the question in an at-home proposal.
