the story of
Kaylee + James
By the time they married, she’d known him something like half her life — although early on, he was only a church acquaintance who always complimented her singing.
But as time went on, he was also the person who made a point to check in on her whenever she came home from college. And at a church Christmas party in 2016, he complimented her on how cute she looked — creating what she’d come to remember as the first spark between them.
Wanting to focus on building a friendship first, he waited until New Year’s Day in 2018 to ask her to be his girlfriend. And exactly one year later, he popped an even bigger question by asking her to be his wife!
Yet another year later, she did just that — in the wedding day she’d dreamed of forever. Kaylee shares:
My biggest dream as a little girl was to get married. I loved fairytales, and I wanted so badly for an actual fairytale to be true.
As I got older, I started to pursue a relationship with my Savior, Jesus. He started to show me that He was the King of Kings, so because I was his daughter, I was a real princess!
This was everything to me, and for most of my life, I was looking for Prince Charming. I waited until I was 22 to even go on my first real date! But the few guys I dated never met my expectations … until I got to know James. He was real, honest and sincere.
Jesus started to show me what I really needed, not what I thought I wanted. And it was clear James was everything I could have ever asked for!
The theme of our wedding was The Royal Wedding, because we are God’s kids, so we are royalty. Our colors were blue (my favorite) and red (James’ favorite). And we chose our venue because James loved the “old building” feel and I loved the Victorian style.
This day was so meaningful to us, as was the number 3. January 3 was the third day of our third year together, and our first look was at 3 p.m.
The only reason James and I are together is because of the Lord; He prepared us for each other even though we couldn’t be more opposite. We hoped and prayed that Jesus would be glorified on this special day and that our guests would experience His perfect love. After all, He created love!
Kaylee and James: Your day was undeniably one-of-a-kind! And it was obvious how much joy you felt to finally have these long-awaited moments come to fruition. We hope what we captured helps you hold onto your wedding memories throughout many happy years together!
