the story of
lori + andy
and engagement photography in Kansas City

They can thank bad music on a bar jukebox for the best introduction of their lives.
When he went to make his own song choice on the machine at Buzzard Beach in Westport, she called over a request for him to break the bad song streak — which led to them striking up a conversation about music and Star Wars and then to a first date of drinks and sushi a few days later.
Given their fairly casual start, it’s perhaps fitting that when he proposed to her, it was in their living room, surrounded by their pets. (Never mind that she may have forced his hand by demanding her 30th birthday gift early, rather than waiting for the impending Colorado trip they’d planned for celebrating it.)
But even if that all-important question came in front of their couch rather than on top of a mountain, it was still a mountaintop experience that started an exciting chapter — which we captured with these engagement photos!
Lori and Andy: I loved that your session came complete with Lightsabers (given how your story started!) and with medical masks (because what COVID-era session would be complete without them?!). But most of all, I loved documenting how perfectly matched you two obviously are. And I can’t wait to witness more of that at your wedding next spring!
