In a million years, they never would have guessed an adult Slip ‘N Slide party would change their lives forever. But that’s exactly what happened during Labor Day weekend of 2015, when she attended the party hosted by a friend and he tagged along as a guest of his cousin. Although neither took part in the Slip ‘N Slide portion of the festivities, they did end up falling for each other – spending the entire night talking, then speaking every single day since despite initially living hours apart.

And despite how well they knew each other after years of daily conversation, he still managed to surprise her on his birthday last June – telling her he buys himself a birthday gift each year. She asked what he chose this year, and his reply – as he pulled a ring box from his pocket – was “a wife”! Making this at-home proposal even more perfect was the fact that they got to share the moment with Howard, their beloved French bulldog (who of course they had to include in some of their engagement photos).
