the story of
jennifer + brett
and engagement photography in Kansas City
~*~
She wasn’t quite who he expected when he found her again, nearly 15 years after their short spell as high school sweethearts.
Then again, in some ways she was that girl exactly – so nervous over dinner on their first date as adults she couldn’t eat anything. But despite this display of anxiety, she was far removed from the teen he’d known who’d been wary of driving 15 minutes to the mall.
The woman he met that night had taught English for a year on a tiny island in the Pacific, without electricity or running water. She’d traveled with folk singers through Russia, spending one cold and miserably memorable night in the middle of nowhere. And on another night on another continent, she’d escaped Mexico with the help of a DEA agent and a janitor.
He had experienced his own trying times, having gone through a divorce the previous year. He hadn’t been sure a significant commitment to anyone else would be in the cards for him – but as soon as Brett Hyatt became reacquainted with Jennifer Huffman, he knew their kindred adventurous spirits could make quite a life together.
